The Sisterhood Society Australia – A network for Autistic women
Our website officially launched on International Day of People with a Disability, December 3rd 2016. Founder, Stacey Smith says “This website is an extension of our original support groups. We want information that is specific to Autistic females to be easily accessible for all Australians.”
The Sisterhood Society Australia aims to provide information, connection and insight for:
- Autistic females wanting to find their ‘tribe’
- Parents of autistic girls to share experiences and learn from others
- Professionals who would like to enrich their knowledge with the female autism perspective
Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum in Women is often a positive life event. It allows the person to finally learn about who they are and get the support and understanding they deserve.
‘I’ve always been learning how to be a person by mimicking, masking and trying to fit in. But now I’m diagnosed I’m becoming equipped and empowered to learn to be me’
